Questions We Hear Most
Cost and Paying
Price is the question we hear most. We are not the cheapest and not the most expensive. You pay for the experience and for doing it right the first time. The real number comes from a free estimate.
How much do new countertops cost?
Every kitchen is different, so we give you a free estimate once we hear what you want. For a rough idea, one Florida pricing guide puts installed granite and quartz at about $65 to $90 a square foot (SlabWise, July 2026). Our price often comes in under what people expected to spend.
How can I pay?
We take cash, check, and credit or debit cards. We do not offer financing.
Choosing Your Stone
Every stone looks and wears a little differently. Fernando will guide you through choosing and tell you honestly which one fits the way you live.
Which countertop stone is the most durable?
It depends on what you mean by durable. For scratches, our own stone comparison sheet rates quartzite the hardest, 7 or more on the Mohs hardness scale, ahead of granite at 6 to 7. Granite has the highest published heat tolerance, about 480 degrees Fahrenheit (Natural Stone Institute). Quartz resists stains best because it is nonporous, but its resin makes it the most sensitive to heat. Marble is the softest and the most sensitive to acid. Our stone guide compares all four.
What is the difference between granite and quartz?
Granite is natural stone cut from the earth, so every slab is one of a kind. Quartz is made by people: crushed quartz bound with resin, so the color and pattern are more even from slab to slab. Fernando will explain both and tell you honestly which one fits the way you cook and live.
What is the difference between quartz and quartzite?
Quartz countertops are engineered from crushed quartz bound with resin. Quartzite is a natural stone, cut from the earth like granite, and every slab is different.
Do you help me choose the stone?
Yes. Fernando walks you through the options and tells you honestly which stone fits the way you use the room, not what we would like to sell.
Do you install backsplashes?
Yes. We install the standard 4 inch stone backsplash, and full stone backsplashes that run from the countertop up to the upper cabinets. We also install tile backsplashes. We do not do tile floors or other tile jobs.
Caring for Your Countertops
Stone is easy to live with once you know a few habits. These answers come from the Natural Stone Institute and the quartz makers.
How do I clean granite countertops?
The Natural Stone Institute recommends a neutral cleaner, stone soap, or a mild dish soap and warm water.
Does quartz need to be sealed?
No. Makers such as Cambria and MSI say their quartz never needs sealing.
What should I do about a stain on natural stone?
Call us first, so we can tell you what the stone and the stain need. For oil stains, the Natural Stone Institute describes a poultice made with baking soda and water, left to dry for about 24 to 48 hours.
Do I need to buy special products to care for my countertops?
Usually not. For natural stone, the Natural Stone Institute recommends a neutral cleaner, stone soap, or a mild dish soap and warm water. Fernando will tell you what your stone needs.
Install Day
Install usually takes about one day. A little planning on your side keeps it smooth.
How long does installation take?
Once you have chosen your stone, it is about 7 to 10 days from the wooden template to install day. The install itself usually takes about one day.
What do I need to do before install day?
Before we make your template, clear everything off your counters and make sure your cabinets are installed and level. On install day, have your sink, faucet and cooktop at the house, turn off the water, and keep the air conditioning on. Please take down bathroom mirrors, move rugs, put pets away, and clear a wide path for the stone.
Do you hook up the sink and faucet?
We mount your sink in the stone, but we do not connect water lines, gas or electrical, and we cannot move outlets. Please have your plumber or electrician handle those. Some shutoff valves are old and have not been turned in years, so it is safer that way.
What do you do with my old countertops?
We remove and haul them away. Very heavy old tops, like concrete or tile, cost extra, but that is rare. If your old tops are still in good shape, we try to donate them to groups like Big Bend Habitat for Humanity, so they do not end up in a landfill.
